UHMW-PE sheets are a type of linear polyethylene with a molecular weight ranging from 3 million to 9 million. As one of the most wear-resistant engineering plastics in the world, they are specifically designed to solve wear, sticking, and corrosion problems under extreme working conditions.

Compared with traditional steel plates, UHMW-PE offers not only extremely high impact strength but also outstanding self-lubricating properties. Widely used in bulk material handling, mining liners, marine fender systems, and food automation industries, UHMW-PE is increasingly replacing stainless steel, manganese steel, and wear-resistant steel plates, significantly reducing equipment maintenance frequency and operational energy consumption.

Extreme abrasion resistance

7 times that of carbon steel and 10 times that of stainless steel. It outperforms all plastics in mortar abrasion tests.

Extremely low coefficient of friction

The surface is self-lubricating with an extremely low coefficient of friction (comparable to PTFE), preventing material adhesion and significantly reducing operating resistance.

High impact resistance

Possesses exceptional toughness, remaining unbroken and undented even under heavy impact, and will not crack even in extremely cold environments (-269°C).

Chemical resistance and water resistance

Completely non-absorbent, exhibiting excellent stability against most corrosive media (acids, alkalis, salts), and rust-resistant.

Quiet operation

Effectively absorbs mechanical noise and vibration during operation, providing a quieter working environment than steel plate systems.

FAQ

Q: Why can't UHMW-PE be injection molded like HDPE?

A: Due to its extremely high molecular weight, UHMW-PE is almost non-flowing in the molten state (extremely high viscosity), so it can usually only be produced through compression molding or plunger extrusion processes.

Q: Why is UHMW-PE superior to steel in silo linings?

A: Steel is prone to rusting, which can cause wet materials to stick (suck). UHMW-PE has a non-stick and self-lubricating surface, allowing even powders with high moisture content to slide smoothly.

Q: How can I tell if I've bought genuine ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene?

A: A simple test: UHMW-PE in the molten state will not drip, but will appear as a rubbery, transparent block; additionally, its density (floating on water) and molecular weight can be confirmed by laboratory reports.
